No question as to what the best game of the evening was. Luke Littler and Luke Humphries served up a stunner.

Humphries hit nine maximums to his opponent's five, but he could not halt Littler's charge.

In a match that finished in under 12 minutes, there were a total of 40 100-plus visits. Humphries began by hitting six perfect darts, while Littler needed just 10 to win the third leg.

Now down in that dreaded fifth spot, Michael van Gerwen remains without a night win in 2025 and in serious danger of missing out on the play-offs for only the second time.

His only absence from the finals since his debut season in 2013 came in 2020 when he finished sixth in the table.

While he matched Nathan Aspinall with a 97 average and 42% checkout in their quarter-final tonight, the Englishman got to the double twice as many times.

Better needed from MVG when they do battle again in Sheffield next week.

Reflecting a little more on tonight's final - after such high quality play throughout the night, it was a bit of a damp squib.

Just the seven 180s, while Chris Dobey could not find his range at the doubles - he hit just one of 12 chances, an 8% conversion rate. Nowhere near good enough.

Neither made a three-figure checkout, and Aspinall was able to win while averaging 92.77.

As a result, that means Chris Dobey can officially no longer reach the play-offs. It is a straight shoot out between Aspinall and van Gerwen for the last slot.

A reminder that Nathan Aspinall has finished fifth in the last two Premier League seasons.

He, more than anyone, will be desperate to make that next step.

Night 15 winner Nathan Aspinall, speaking to Sky Sports: "I felt very confident coming into tonight, I bottled it last week but tonight is a new night. I was really composed against Michael [van Gerwen], and he said my finishing was fantastic. But I knew it was nothing without the next game.

"I've not played amazing tonight, but I have been composed. I've not celebrated, I've stayed in the moment. And my finishing has been bang on tonight."

It is a very simple equation next week in Sheffield - if Michael van Gerwen wins the night, he progresses to the play-offs.

If he does not, Nathan Aspinall goes through.

Aspinall dips under double tops, however Dobey's head is gone. He grins ruefully and busts.

Aspinall finally finishes this match with D10, and is on the verge of the play-offs.

Chris Dobey realistically needs to win this leg, but is put under severe pressure by an Aspinall 180.

Dobey cant find a 138 checkout, with Aspinall only needing 41 - but once again that D16 is tricksy for these men, he misses twice.

Dobey gets it badly wrong... but Aspinall misses three at doubles... then Dobey busts out! This is not high quality darts, but it is dramatic.

Eventually, Aspinall takes the leg, breaking Dobey again and moving one leg from victory.

Chris Dobey knows he has nothing to lose, he chucks in another 180 at the start of leg five.

Both men get to 100+ checkout chances, neither can make it on their first attempts.

Dobey can win this leg on 110 - but he misses D16 once again!

Aspinall cleans up 65 - ending with D16, a particular sickener for Dobey.

In that last leg, Nathan Aspinall hit three treble ones for a visit of nine. You'd be embarrassed about that down the pub. At least Aspinall took it in good humour, with a grin to the crowd.

No grins here though as both men exchange 180s, before Aspinall narrowly misses a 96 finish.

But Dobey is off target twice at D16, allowing Aspinall to make the third successive break in this match.

This rare Luke-free final is shaping up to be a titanic tussle. So much on the line for both men.
