Harrogate Town slipped to 21st in League Two as they were well beaten 3-0 by Newport County at Rodney Parade.
Newport were quick out the blocks, as Cameron Evans got on the end of Shane McLoughlin's second-minute corner kick to head County in front.
The Exiles doubled their lead 13 minutes later as the ball fell to Courtney Baker-Richardson in the Harrogate box, and the Newport striker fired past James Belshaw.
The points were made safe on the hour mark, as captain James Clarke fired into the roof of the net after reacting quickest to a loose ball.
Harrogate fall a place in the table, but still hold a 10-point cushion over the bottom two.
Newport meanwhile climb to 16th, 12 points from the League Two play-off places and 16 above the relegation zone.
Newport County head coach Nelson Jardim told BBC Radio Wales:
"It was nothing that surprises me, we know this group of players very well and the reaction they showed today is what we expect.
"The game started in that direction, we wanted to put that last game behind us and now we can look forward.
"I think we're now 16 clear [of the relegation zone], we can really say we are in the comfort zone that we were speaking of at the start of the season."
Harrogate Town manager Simon Weaver told BBC Radio York:
"I'm disappointed, we were aiming for a positive result here to back up recent displays but in both boxes we haven't done enough.
"Newport, they scored three goals from set plays, they did more and deserved the win.
"We're a bigger, stronger team now. We pride ourselves on defending corners and set pieces well, but today was a day where defensively we haven't turn up."
