Glasgow head coach Franco Smith tells Premier Sports: "It was tremendously gutsy. It's freezing in the stands, being out there... it was a horrible night.

"I'm very proud of the boys, they stuck in. It was a great Connacht side, they've played well in Europe lately and we knew they'd be tough and I'm glad we got the job done.

"The players who aren't involved every week live for this time of the year. They stepped up. A lot of the boys missed out on the URC final last year but this was their URC final.

"Ben is a quality player, he's got a good all-round skillset and we're excited about him. Fin Richardson and Patrick Schickerling did a great job for us in the first half. I'm excited about their growth. Alex Samuel keeps on growing, Euan Ferrie is playing well, Duncan Munn stepped up."

Deputising captain Duncan Weir tells Premier Sports: "It was a huge honour. I know every man and their dug is away, but it still is a huge honour and I loved it.

"The boys really delivered tonight. It wasn't the best conditions to play some of the rugby that we want to play, but we tried to do that in parts. It was a great squad effort, great heart and great desire.

"It's huge for their [youngsters] confidence. It's a long season running opposition plays and not getting a sniff. Tonight they stood up, fronted up."

Ben Afshar, the player of the match, tells Premier Sports: "It's great to get that result. We talk about it being a full squad effort here. There's a lot of boys grafting away in the background. It's good to see so many taking their chance and to get the win is really special as well.

"As a scrum-half, you're always looking for the last . If you search enough you'll get it.

"He's always one of my captains, always looks after me and he's a good leader. It was good to see him leading the boys but he's always doing that behind the scenes as well."

Glasgow decide against running into a green brick wall, having been pushed back to the edge of the 22m, and Ben Afshar launches it out of play.

No fourth try or bonus point for Glasgow, but Connacht can leave with their heads held high as they get their losing bonus point.

Connacht maybe tried to overplay at times, while Glasgow were more opportunistic in their tries.

And any win without 22 first-team players is always a good one.

Glasgow are down in the corner as they win a penalty from the restart.

It's the area of the pitch they want to be in as the lock goes red.

Connacht win a penalty as Grant Stewart is tackled and his runners - Euan Ferrie and Henco Venter - are too slow, allowing the visitors to force the turnover.

But again, Connacht spill the ball in the line-out. Masters of their own downfall.

Matthews' night is now over. He's not had his most memorable performance. Grant Stewart is on in his place.

Connacht are enjoying possession again but there's another knock-on, this time from JJ Hanrahan. It is tough in these conditions.

Glasgow are under the cosh but they manage to clear their lines cleanly and then win the turnover, kicking to touch.

The line-out is messy though. Johnny Matthews is struggling in this wind, with hooker/back-rower Angus Fraser looking untidy in the lift.

It's another penalty for Connacht down in the corner, Euan Ferrie conceding the last two. He needs to be careful.

Connacht will try another maul... but it was knocked on before Dave Heffernan could scurry over. It's just the transfer of the ball.

Angus Fraser is on and into the back-row, replacing Ally Miller. Sam Talakai is also into the front row for Fin Richardson - who stood out in a rare outing at tighthead.

There's penalty advantage coming as Euan Ferrie doesn't roll away in the tackle. It's put into the corner.

The rain is coming down hard now and Glasgow are playing into a strong breeze. It's a tough test for this makeshift Warriors side now.

The kind of game on which championship-winning seasons are built.

Glasgow are back down the right end of the pitch as the sleet and hail starts to lash down at Scotstoun.

There's a few changes to tell you about as well. John Devine, Paul Boyle and Sam Illo are on for the visitors.

Nathan McBeth is on for the hosts, replacing Patrick Schickerling.

That's a bad miss from JJ Hanrahan!

Ally Miller is pinged and Connacht have a very kickable penalty but Hanrahan smacks the post with his effort.

Glasgow are struggling to play into the vicious wind here, and this second half is proving to be far more of a challenge.

A concern for the Warriors now as Johnny Matthews stays down. It looks like a knee problem. He's staying on, but Franco Smith might have to call on one of his three hookers.
